Sunshine State Saturday...

As you are in the process of reading this, I am most and likely traveling to Florida or chillin' by the pool. We are on our annual family get away to the Sunshine State. My Nana and Papa, my Uncle Jack, his wife, and baby cousin, as well mom, dad, and me go every summer to Orange Lake Resort and Country Club. This year I am bringing my bestie and my baby cousin is bringing hers. My Nana and Papa have made it special this year in honor of my high school graduation as well as my 18th birthday.

Check back daily for pre-scheduled posts and hopefully pictures during the week.

Thursday Thoughts...

"I believe in pink.
I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles,"
~Audrey Hepburn

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view.
(from the character Atticus Finch)

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?
~Vincent van Gogh

Mama always said life was like a box a chocolates, never know what you're gonna get.
~ Forrest Gump

Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself.
~ Sean (Good Will Hunting)

You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew you never knew."

Wishful Wednesday...

Gone With The Wind...

Fiddle-dee-dee, it is already Wednesday. As you can probably tell, my favorite movie is most definitely Gone With The Wind. It is the most amazing old time sweet Southern movie. If you are ever in the mood to sit down with a sweet tea and watch a southern love story, I suggest Gone With The Wind.

If I could have one wish I do believe I would wish to live on an antebellum plantation and have the life of Scarlett O'hara and marry a man like Rhett Butler. They go to Barbeques, partys, and all sorts of Balls. The girls of this time period wore big hats and ball gowns everywhere. The thought of being to completely dress up everywhere you go is simply amazing. (minus all the slavery nonsense!)

Some Favorite Quotes

Mammy: If you don't care what folks say about dis family I does! I is told ya and told ya that you can always tell a lady by the way she eats in front of folks like a bird and I ain't aimin' for you to go to Mr. John Wilkes and eat like a field hand a gobble like a hog!

Rhett Butler: No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's whats wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.

Scarlett O'hara: If either of you boys says "war" just once again, I'll go in the house and slam the door.

Scarlett O'hara: He looks as if... as if he knows what I look like without my shimmy.

Think Pink Tuesday: Wedding

Southern Belle WeddingFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore
No, I am definitely not engaged. I am not even dating anyone steadily. However, I have always loved weddings. As a southern belle, from birth, you imagine your big day. I am obsessed with Say Yes to the Dress, David Tuterra, and Platinum Weddings. Today, I found the TACORI contest on Polyvore. The contest allowed me to submit an entry as well as design my Think Pink wedding.

Dorm Shopping...

Guys and girls are very different when it comes to dorm shopping for college. Most guys say I need a blanket, clothes, and toiletries.. and that is about it. Girls on the other hand... We need to color coordinate with our roomate, get the perfect comforter, the right pillows, and lots, lots more. I met my roomie for Wingate through Facebook. Emily and I hit it off right when we first began talking. Her favorite colors are pink, green, turquoise, and yellow, luckily enough, mine are the exact same. We both began browsing through every store trying to find the perfect comforter to start off our room decorating. Emily and I went shopping at South Point Mall just get to know each other. We basically knew we wanted to go mostly pink and green. While shopping with my wonderful mom, we found this comforter and knew it was the one. It is buy Nautica and called Torrey Beach. The perfect name because we both love the beach. We got our comforters and have our sheets that go with the comforter as well. I am predominitely pink (SURPRISE!) with green accents and Emily is going the green route with pink accents. We are sending the sheets to get monogrammed (those pics will be up soon along with other items getting monogrammed)!

Another must that a college student needs to have is the right computer. My mom and I have been searching for the laptop that I would have. Yes, you guessed it, I am now the owner of a gorgeous PINK laptop from Dell.
Of course I could not just have a pink laptop, I also need a printer for school as well, so I ordered a PINK Dell printer. They go together quite nicely and I love them both. I can't wait to start putting everything in my dorm room. I do believe Emily and I will have a very girly and preppy room.
By the way, I also have a pink laptop sleeve to carry my laptop in!

Turned the tassel and moving on...

The tassel was turned on June 10, 2010. I can't believe that I am a high school graduate of Northern High. I am about to embark on my collegiate journey at Wingate University in the fall. Wingate is a small, private university. The school colors are blue and gold, just like my high school colors. And the Wingate mascot is the Bulldog. I move in on August 15th and I cannot wait. That is actually 5 days before most freshman and even more before returning students. I am starting out my college adventure with a pre-orientation program called Gateway. Incoming frosh had the opportunity to choose to attend Gateway and if they did, they could choose between 4 options. I decided to explore the Queen City with some other freshmen. I will be going to Carowinds theme park one day, the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Lowes Motor Speedway, and whitewater rafting and ziplining at the US National Whitewater Center. We will also go to a minor league baseball game, learn about museums and cultural experiences in the Queen City and dine at some of the cities favorite restaurants. Following Gateway, is the actual orientation where I meet the rest of the freshmen that will be starting Wingate this fall and I will get my ID, parking pass, and my complete schedule. I have already received my temporary but likely schedule and on MWF, my first class begins at 10 am. On Tuesday, I start at 9 am. My last class every day is over at 1:50!! Pretty good for a freshman schedule and I am getting 16 hours.

My mom continuously tells me to make the most out of my next four years, that they will be the best years of my life and not to rush them in any way. I am ready to get to Wingate and to begin making the friendships that I will have for the rest of my life.
